Dear Friends, Colleagues, Associates and Neighbors

After nearly a 50-year insurance career, I have decided to close my Paoli office and establish an office at home. For the time being I will be available to you at ed@aublefinancial.com as well as edauble@aol.com and via cell phone: 610-613-4188.

Following 9 years active duty in the Navy (Cuban Blockade; Naples, Italy; flying missions in ‘Nam), I earned my master’s degree in International Management. Nearing graduation, I was interviewed by the personnel director for American International Group (AIG). Gene asked me why I was interested in an insurance career. I told him that I never had considered it until I saw my name on the list of students he wanted to interview. My wife later told me that, with that comment, I would not be working for AIG! She was wrong. I sensed, rightly so, that Gene had a sense of humor – and he did.

During the next ten years, I managed operations in Jamaica, Greece (1974 revolution), Aruba, the Caribbean, Iran (1978 revolution. My son’s school principal was one of the Iranian hostages) and Saudi Arabia. Company friends, kiddingly, said that I must have been working for the “Company”, considering the overseas political upheavals my family and I experienced. Many wonderful experiences! Many friends and challenges along the way. After Saudi Arabia (1979-80), I was offered an assignment in corporate in NYC. That is when I decided to establish my own business, to succeed or fail on my own. And that is how you and I may have become acquainted.

From Paoli, I sold insurance products, trained other agents and was involved in my professional association. In 2002, I was elected president of our Pennsylvania Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. In 2008, the Greater Philadelphia chapter honored me for my industry support and ethics. The recognition for outstanding ethical practices was particularly pleasing!

In addition to my work, volunteering has been my passion. Volunteering in Paoli, West Whiteland, Chester County, my professional association and Lafayette College. And teaching International Management at Immaculata College. And living in six countries and traveling in 65+ countries has been enlightening to this small-town boy (Belvidere, NJ and Staffordville, CT, population 500 and a general store).

A healthy 82 come July, I plan to see my children and their families in Bogota and DC as the virus recedes. Maintain some of the volunteer roles, including Paoli Business & Professional Association. See friends. Bike. Grow REALLY old!

I have moved out of my Paoli office and am stationed at home. Please call, write or email me if you think that I can be of service or to have a coffee. You have been an important part of my world and I thank you for the opportunity. It all seems so brief!

Sincerely,

Ed
